#60 - Eliminate clutter, increase clarity!
What?
Look closely at how you conduct your business, because hidden in plain sight is a leadership multiplier which you could leverage to significantly increase your effectiveness.
Personal organisation means more than a tidy desk or inbox zero. It’s about creating systems that help you stay mentally clear, emotionally present, and logistically reliable.
Think:
- A clean digital environment,
- An uncluttered physical space,
- A calendar that reflects your real priorities,
- A to-do list that drives action and which doesn't foster anxiety.
Being organised isn’t about being rigid. It’s about being ready.
Why?
It's all about acknowledging that clutter is a threat to clarity.
Here’s what happens when you’re disorganised:
- You react instead of lead,
- You make slower decisions,
- You lose trust (yes, people do notice),
- Your team mirrors your chaos.
When your life is cluttered, your leadership becomes foggy.
When your systems are clean, your mind is clear and that clarity is contagious.
Leadership thrives on clarity. Organisation is how you get there.
How?
You don’t need to become a minimalist monk but you do need to get intentional. You do this by reducing the noise, and building systems that work for you so you are able to lead better.
Here’s how to start:
- Tidy your digital world - Archive or delete old emails, clean your desktop, unsubscribe from non-essential newsletters, create folders you’ll actually use.
- Declutter your physical space - Clear your desk, keep only what you need within reach, make it a space you want to think in.
- Simplify your priorities - Audit your calendar, what shouldn’t be there?Review your task list, what is noise versus signal? Learn to say no. Remember leadership is all about selective focus.
- Build a weekly reset ritual - One hour a week to clean, plan and reset. Ask yourself: What’s getting in my way right now? Clear it before Monday hits!
